CONTEMPORARY CIRCUS — NEW APPARATUS — ELECTROMAGNETISM
By what are we driven?
When our choices seem increasingly conditioned, how much freedom do we have left? Here, the artists’ bodies and movements are brought into play using powerful magnets to represent our determinism. In a strange magnetic universe where gravity is transformed, the characters are subjected to invisible forces that have power over them. Simon Carrot worked with the sculptor Ulysse Lacoste and through experiments, and with the help of engineers, they actively seeked to design electromagnetic systems, thus linking contemporary circus and electromagnetism.
