At the time when our representative democracies are criticised and citizens wish to be more actively and collaboratively involved in decision-making processes, couldn’t we use new technologies as new tools for political participation? In fact, digital transformation in our western societies continuously transform our ways we communicate, exchange information and consume, but their application in the political sphere is yet unexploited. Nevertheless, we can see the emergence of “civic tech” or other, either entrepreneurial or public, community initiatives which create space for dialogue between citizens initiating public discussions, lobbying, creating social networks and co-building public policies. The round table will inquire into the political potential of digital tools.
