EXPERIMENTA, 6th edition of the ARTS SCIENCES TECHNOLOGIES SHOW

For the past six years this autumn, the Atelier Arts Sciences has opened doors for the public to witness research conducted jointly by artists and scientists. EXPERIMENTA allows to showcase ongoing or completed projects carried out by artists, scientists and technologists. They join forces to produce new technology applications, advance new ways of artistic creativity and to foster new forms of imagination by expanding the boundaries of knowledge.

New links between art, science and technology are invented and brought together in France as well as around the world, andenterprises, laboratories and artistic teams in Grenoble and the Auvergne Rhône-Alpes Region are developing a real melting pot of art-science relations. They conceive projects, produce prototypes and test them through experimentation. Moreover, by sharing their vision and giving a concrete form to their common research, they not only create new artworks and objects but they contribute to inventing the future. The Atelier Arts Sciences select each year over twenty devices resulting from fruitful encounters, and present them to the public. This year, seven projects result from collaboration with CEA in the form of Atelier Arts Sciences residencies.

The presence of inventors, researchers, engineers, technicians, musicians, stage directors, scenographers, actors, Circassians, authors, graphic artists, makers and entrepreneurs, all joined by students at each installation, offers opportunities for new encounters, discussions and experimentation. Whether just wandering around or being an expert, visitors will be able to enter immersive worlds, draw in 3D, explore a piece of a virtual dance, enlighten themselves by microbes, play an energy game, visualise the crowd while focusing on the infinitely small, listen to artificial intelligence, grow a book or animate objects… The main themes of the showcased devices will be highlighted at seven round table discussions. The round tables will offer the opportunity to collaboratively inquire about societal stakes with regards to the development of artificial intelligence, big data, new energies, the Internet of Things, virtual reality… In brief, the show will provide a space for multimedia expressions open to everyone.
